A love lock attached to Union Suspension Bridge, Horncliffe, Northumberland

The Union Suspension Bridge was built on behalf of the Berwick and North Durham Turnpike Trust. It opened on 26 July 1820. It spans the River Tweed, the boundary between Scotland and England. It was the first road suspension bridge in Britain and is the oldest still in use as such.
