In 1786 (Year 10 of Jeongjo), Bokwon Yi and other 10 officials of Gyujanggak published the book on the achievements of 19 successive reigns after Jeongjo’s order was made. Gaengjang means commemorating previous kings. This book followed an example of 『Seongjo gaengjang nok』 published under Yeongjo, and contains 19 successive reign’s achievements, ideals, ruling philosophy, communication between the king and the vassals, appointing officials, promoting occupation, system maintenance, refining custom, and relief measures. This book collects examples of ideal Confucian politics and its practice.
