Festschrift for the Beethoven commemorative year 1952

The GDR celebrated Beethoven as a humanistic pioneer of socialism. Works like the Ninth Symphony (Op. 125) were interpreted in this way. In 1952 a festival week was organised, for which every city and every rural district had to put on Beethoven concerts.
