Vertical, rectangular piece. Ciselé velvet with large floral motifs in green and maroon, flanked by fleshy leaves, on a beige background with a twill weave. Selvage retained on the left side.
This type of velvet, known as "Jardinerie" because it is polychrome, was one of the most important materials used for tapestry. A single motif fills the full width of the pattern. It was predominantly produced in Genoa in the 17th century.
