Karin Sander's works deal with given situations and their historical and social aspects. Sander often engages with the conditions of the institutions and venues where her works are exhibited. In doing so, it is her concern to incorporate into her production process the spatial and social codes of the space that she is intervening in. Based on everyday observations, Karin Sander creates sculptures, including large-scale spatial interventions.

The work entitled "Ping-Pong-Ball, Green, Polished", is a real ping-pong ball that reflects its surroundings with its high gloss surface, and is also a recurring theme in Sander's work. The artist's interest in table tennis derives not only from her own mastery of the sport, but also from the fact that the game evokes a number of associations and concepts, such as competition and dialogue. Sander's work in the exhibition depicts a bright green ping-pong ball that rolls freely until it naturally comes to a stop. At first glance, the ping-pong ball with its altered, wafer-thin surface appears fragile, giving rise to the question whether it would be able to withstand being used in a real game. Presented on a base with a glass cover, it has virtually detached itself from the game, or has been transported to an entirely new playing field. Drawing attention to itself and the things reflected on its surface, it gives the impression of floating or pausing mid-game, expressing the simple singularity of the moment.
