Portrait bust of James Watt, reconstructed from plaster mould found in Watt's Workshop c.1807, manufactured by the UCL Digital Manufacturing Centre, 2010.

When preparing James Watt's workshop for relocation, curators examined several plaster moulds. Among representations of animals and mythological gods, they found this one which they thought might be a bust of Watt himself.

Laser scanning and computer analysis by the 3D Imaging Research Centre at University College, London, allowed the bust to be recreated for the first time in more than 200 years.
