Pyx (Communion Box)

A pyx in silver with a gilt interior. It is cylindrical with a hinged flat lid and it closes with a latch mechanism. The lid and base are decorated with the figure of Christ on the cross. Below this is are the letters IHS and three nails, and around the edge of the pyx is a sunburst motif. There is a suspension loop on top. A pyx is a vessel in which consecrated bread is kept.
