Johannesburg, South Africa

Eleven large and intricately embroidered panels are on permanent exhibition at Origins Centre.
The tapestries illustrate the history of the San, the first people of southern Africa. They were designed by artist Tamar Mason and produced by herself and a collective of craftswomen in 2005 and 2006. The embroideries are made with thread, fabric, glass beads, ostrich eggshell beads, paint and safety pins.
