A watercolour by the South African architect and artist Kenneth Birch (1914-2010) titled The Remains of the Boilers. This work is part of a watercolour series by the architect Kenneth Birch, which he painted from 1957 to 1975, inspired by the mining landscapes of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. All these mines being gold producing mines. The painting depicts the remains of the boilers at the number three north shaft of the Randfontein Estate Gold Mine. It was painted on the 13th of July 1970.
