The canopic vessels were used to store the embalmed viscera during the mummification process. The covers of these copies represent the Four Sons of Horus. The jackal-head cap depicts the god Duamutef, and in that vessel was the stomach. The baboon-headed play depicts the god Hapy and holds his lungs. A with falcon head represents the god Qebehsenuef and guarded the intestines. Imset, with the head of a man, kept the liver.
