Our new installation turns a spotlight on the designer who made many of Billie Jean King’s iconic looks. Together, King and Tingling had a tremendous influence on the visibility of women on the tennis court. King’s tenacity and commitment for equal rights, together with Tingling’s bold designs, challenged conventions about what women can do: emphasizing that women can be simultaneously powerful, strong, and feminine.
