El Museo Franz Mayer es una institución sin fines de lucro que desde hace 35 años se ha dedicado a conservar, investigar y presentar las amplias colecciones de libros, pintura, y artes decorativas que constituyen el legado de Franz Mayer, así como otras importantes colecciones, destacando la Colección de Arte Popular de Ruth Lechuga, la del artista surrealista Wolfgang Paalen y la del gran orfebre William Spratling,entre otras.El museo se ubica en un edificio singular del siglo XVI en el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México, el cual perteneció a la orden de San Juan de Dios y funcionó como hospital hasta 1966. Es uno de los más importantes ejemplos de la arquitectura conventual- hospitalaria de la Nueva España ubicado en la emblemática plaza de la Santa Veracruz.

The Franz Mayer Museum is a non-profit institution that for 32 years has been dedicated to preserving, researching and presenting the extensive collections of books, paintings, and decorative arts that constitute the Franz Mayer legacy, as well as other important collections, highlighting the Popular Art Collection of Ruth Lechuga, that of the surrealist artist Wolfgang Paalen and that of the great goldsmith William Spratling, among others.The museum is located in a unique 16th century building in the Historic Center of Mexico City, which It belonged to the order of San Juan de Dios and functioned as a hospital until 1966. It is one of the most important examples of the conventual-hospital architecture of New Spain located in the emblematic Plaza de la Santa Veracruz.
