This is part of a wooden high-voltage pylon with insulators and lightning arresters. It is probably from the 1930s. These pylons were used widely in the Netherlands starting in 1930. As with the current high voltage pylons, isolators are used to separate the cables electrically from the pylons. The insulators on this pylon are made of porcelain. Starting in the 1960s the cables were gradually moved underground, until in the 1990s the last wooden electricity poles disappeared from the Dutch landscape.
