Museum of Ethnic Costumes, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology

This is a piece of nicely-woven samite with a firm texture and a soft feel. Motifs visible based on variations of colors among sage, blue and yellow on a red ground create a rich palette. A pair of colored deer looking at each other stand out on a yellow ground in the richly-decorated beaded roundels. An impressive tranquility can be sensed while watching the composed deer with necks surrounded by green ribbons. Botanic ornamental pattern with rich colors scatter around on the roundels, unveiling a tip of the great artistic look of the golden ages of the Tang dynasty (618-907 AD).
