- Description: This work deals with philosophical arguments on those points in metaphysics that were disputed among the scholars of al-Baṣra and Baghdād. The author, Saʿīd b. Muḥammad b. Saʿīd al-Nīsābūrī Abū Rashīd, fl. 400/1009 (between 320/932 and 460/1068), takes the side of his teacher Abū Hāshim, who represents the Baṣrans. The whole work consists of seventeen parts (جزء) and addresses in 153 questions (مسئلة) first الجواهر, then on f.47r الاعراض etc. - It begins with: f.1v: الكلام فى الجواهر’ مسئلة فى تماثل الجواهر’ ذهب شيوخنا الي ان الجواهر كلها جنس واحد الخ, f.69r: الكلام فى الاصوات’ مسئلة فى جواز وجود الصوت من غير وجود صكّة او حركة, f.83r: الكلام فى الاكوان’ مسئلة فى ان الحركة من جنس السكون, f.112r: الكلام فى التاليف’ مسئلة فى ان التاليف معنى سوي الكونين على سبيل القرب وانه يوجد فى محلّين, etc., (last question f.208v): مسئلة فى ان الشهوة لا تحتاج فى زيادتها الي زيادة بِنْيَةٍ’ . The work against which the author mainly polemicises is عيون المسائل by عبد الله بن احمد البلخي ابو القاسم (d. 319/931).
