The electrical control room in the Jura substation in Meyrin

1969

CERN

CERN
Geneva, Switzerland

The elegant new control room, built by Sprecher and Schuh (Switzerland), of the enlarged power house. From that room, the distribution of general services such as electricity, compressed air, cooling water, etc. throughout the CERN site was controlled. The map of the site on the left was a general alarm panel which could show the location and nature of faults (from a clock which had stopped to an outbreak of fire). The units of the power house itself were also monitored here. The control room came into service in January.
