Preparations for brazing an r.f. separator component in a vacuum furnace in the CERN West workshop. The structure had alternating discs and rings requiring tight manufacturing tolerances. It was impossible to machine from a single block ; each disc and ring was machined separately, stacked, and brazed under vacuum.
