The panels (St. Peter, Five Apostles; Christ Blessing; Five Apostles; St. John the Evangelist), painted in monochrome, made up the predella of an altarpiece, probably that of the high altar of the church of Sant'Andrea in Maggianico, near Lecco, made in the workshop of Gaudenzio Ferrari. In these cases, it was usual to entrust the execution of marginal parts, such as the predellas, to close collaborators; the tablets can therefore be attributed to a painter active in the workshop, who worked on the basis of his master's drawings. The painted hatching is enlivened by golden highlights that reveal the artist’s commitment to imitating the style of the master.
