In this Dreaming story, a group of Napangardi and Napanangka women began a journey at Mina Mina – a sacred site far to the west of Yuendumu. At Mina Mina, the karlangu (digging sticks) emerged from the ground. Taking the sticks the women travelled far to the east, gathering ngalayipi (snake vine) and fungi to eat and performing ceremonies. Today, many Warlpiri people regard the desert oaks at Mina Mina (which are particularly tall and thin) as the living embodiment of the digging sticks and the dancing women.
