Urania’s Mirror; or, a View of the Heavensis a set of 32 star charts, printed on card and sold for astronomical self-instruction. Urania was the Muse of astronomy in Greek mythology. The constellations are depicted as fanciful creatures, and some groupings are no longer recognised by modern astronomers. Each card is hand-coloured and pierced with holes that correspond to the size of the brightest stars, giving a realistic impression of a constellation when held up to the light. Shown here: Draco and Ursa Minor (plate 1);Sagittarius and Corona Australis (plate 24);Canis Major; Lepus; Columba Noachi and Cela Sculptoris (plate 30);Monoceros; Canis Minor (plate 31);Noctua; Corvus; Crater; Sextans Uraniæ; Hydra; Felis (plate 32);Box
