This presentation album contains 28 folios of William James Hall’s silver gelatin prints of sailing skiffs skippered by Rear Admiral John Saumarez Dumaresq RN. The album has a decorative frontispiece with a watercolour and ink illuminated address. It was compiled by Hall and Co and presented to Australian Rear Admiral Dumaresq on the 24th of April 1922, on the eve of his departure from Sydney to return to the Royal Navy as a token of esteem from members of the 18 foot Open Sailing Club, Sydney Flying Squadron and Sydney Sailing Club. He died from pneumonia in the Philippines on 22 July en route to England. Dumaresque was a strong supporter and patron of open boat skiff racing.
