Washington, DC, United States

This Apollo command module pressure model was part of a larger grouping built and used for wind tunnel testing conducted in the development stage of the Apollo program. The testing was to observe and measure the aerodynamic and heat transfer properties of the module at launch and reentry. This model was to document the distribution of pressure the command module would experience traversing the atmosphere at a specific angle.NASA transferred the model to the Smithsonian in 1971.
