Front and left hand side view. Produced by British car manufacturer MG, the ZA Magnette was announced in October 1953 and debuted at the London Motor Show. Designed by Gerald Palmer (designer of the Jowett Javelin) it was the first monocoque (weight supported through external shell) car to bear the MG badge.
The ZA featured new parts including a four cylinder 1.5 B-Series I4 engine and a four speed manual gearbox with synchromesh on the top three ratios. The Motor magazine tests in 1955 recorded the ZA’s top speed at 128.3 kilometres per hour with acceleration from 0 to 97 km/h in 23.1 seconds. The interior features luxuries of leather trimmed seats and polished wood dashboard and door panels. The vehicle was available in black, maroon, green and grey.
