Details

  • Title: 1969 Holden HT Panel Van
  • Date Created: 1969-01-01/1969-12-31
  • Location: Birdwood, South Australia
  • Provenance: This panel van was originally used by Radio Rentals as a television delivery van. Its subsequent owner customised the vehicle during the 1980s. Painted in black and blue pearl, it is decorated with ornate scenes of trains, waterfalls and a flamingo and the interior is lined with blue velour. In reflection of its beautiful mystic aesthetic it was named 'Midnight Express'. The van has won numerous awards, including 'Top Panel Van' in South Australia three years in a row. Midnight Express demonstrates how the Holden Panel Van transitioned from a work vehicle into leisure car. Donated to the Museum by Steve Dobson.
