From 1864 to 1865, Reverend Dr. William T. Leacock lived here. Leacock was the rector of an Episcopal Church in New Orleans but he was exiled from the United States during the Civil War. During his brief stay in Niagara he officiated at St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
