The Postal Service honored football coach Vince Lombardi with the issuance of a 32-cent commemorative stamp on August 5, 1997, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The stamp features a portrait of Vincent Thomas "Vince" Lombardi in a familiar scene associated with his career as a professional football coach. Lombardi was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers and led them to two Super Bowl victories.

The Lombardi stamp has the same design as the one featured on the sheet of four Legendary Football Coaches stamps issued on July 25, 1997. However, the stamp on the individual sheet bears a red bar over the name that appears at the top of the stamp.

Designed by Carl Herrman of Laguna Niguel, California, and illustrated by Daniel Moore of Birmingham, Alabama, the stamp was issued in a pane of twenty and printed by Ashton-Potter (USA), Ltd., in the offset process.
