This Liberty Issue stamp depicts The Alamo, located in San Antonio, Texas. The Alamo was founded in 1718 as a Spanish mission during the settlement of San Antonio. It was later used as a fortress for the Mexican Army and later the Texian Army. The Battle of the Alamo was a pivotal event during the Texas Revolution. The building and its Texian Army defenders fell to the Mexican Army and General Antonio López de Santa Anna after a thirteen day siege. The building is now a National Historic Site and museum.
