Philips Wouwerman was one of the most versatile and sought-after painters of the Dutch Golden Age. He began his career painting everyday scenes and from the 1640s, Wouwermanhas developed a very own style where he portrayed a vast area of themes, from landscapes of war to religious scenes, passing hunting scenes. The equestrian theme was one of his strengths, being considered the greatest painter of horses of 17th century due to the movement that could print to them.
