In October 1914, the Pärnu chapter of the tsar’s society for the general assistance of soldiers wounded in the war and their families announced a drive for warm clothing for soldiers. Used garments were also accepted. The rural affairs commissioner ordered village tithe collectors to go door to door. A significant amount of donations were raised. Hides donated were sewn by girls into coats, the Audru municipality mayor delivered to the rural affairs commissioner a total of 47 short sheepskin coats, 67 pairs of socks, 88 pairs of gloves, 4 warm shirts, 3 sweaters, 4 linen shirts, 4 pairs of underwear, 12 pairs of footwraps, 5 handkerchiefs, pencils, writing paper, 14 packages of paper smoking tubes, 4 packages of tobacco.
