In casting processes, a riser is a reservoir of metal built into the mold to compensate for metal shrinkage upon solidification, preventing unevenness and cavities in the piece. After solidification and cooling, risers are cut off. These plans, signed by the artillery engineer Nicolás Galluzo, show a general view and details of a machine to cut risers off in the pieces cast at the Artillery Factory of Seville.
