NEW SUPER TANKER TERMINAL
August 1957.
An artist's impression of the British Petroleum Company's proposed crude oil tanker terminal at POPTON POINT, on the south shore of Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. The terminal will connect with B.P.'s LLANDARCY Oil Refinery by a 60-mile pipeline capable of carrying five million tons of crude oil per year.
The terminal's jetty will have two berths capable of receiving tankers of the super-class. Vessels will discharge their cargoes by means of their own pumps direct into a transfer pipeline connecting with a tank farm
1½ miles away. Only one pumping station electrically operated will be required to pump the crude oil along the pipeline to Llandarey Refinery.
