This series is well known as the work by which Kuniyoshi gained his reputation, and it became a pioneer for the rise in popularity of the story Water Margin. The dynamic expressions and indigo-colored tattoos of the heroes are Kuniyoshi’s specialties. This print is particularly known as the representative work of these expressions.
