A woman's gown of beige silk brocaded in floral sprays with coloured silks. The gown is open at the front with elbow-length sleeves, with a shaped, scalloped cuff on the right side. The bodice meets at the centre front. The bodice and sleeves are lined with various weights of linen. The gown is made of 4 widths of silk with a partial panel on each side of the front. The bodice is seamed to the skirts at the waist; the back is made of 4 shaped panels.
The gown has been remade and heavily pieced in the early 1780s. The green silk facings on the skirt fronts were probably added in the late 19th century; the beige silk skirt lining addedlater for Museum display.
