Across Haryana, takhat are made of rohida, kikar, saal or teak wood and metal. This particular takhat was made of saal wood and was placed in the verandah of a haveli that belonged to a merchant family. Metal handles were fixed along the longer sides of the horizontal frame, for lifting it easily, when needed.
