Immaculate Conception

Bartolomé Esteban Murillo is one of the most important painters in the Andalusian School of the Spanish Golden Age. His paintings were artistic models for numerous artists in Spain and America, especially his paintings of the Good Shepherd and the Immaculate Conception.

Throughout his life, Murillo and his studio painted dozens of variations of the latter. The similarity of this work to the Inmaculada Concepción “de Aranjuez” (Prado National Museum, Madrid), allows us to determine that this work was created towards the last quarter of the XVII century.
