Leatherbacks (Dermochelys coriacea) have a deeply notched upper jaw with 2 cusps on the head. They feed on cnidarians (soft-animals), such as jellyfish and medusae.

As migratory animals, sea turtles travel from the tropics to sub-polar regions, transferring energy between marine and terrestrial environments. They´re considered ecosystem engineers, due to its influence on coral reefs, seagrass meadows and sandy bottoms of the ocean floor.
