San Andrés Cholula, Puebla, Mexico

A man kneeling under the altar. There are columns made of skeletons, and there are pillars on the background, one of them with Jesus Christ on the cross.
The piece is a reference to the "Capilla Real de los naturales" a church built in San Pedro Cholula in 16th century for the indigenous people during the so called spiritual conquered. The printing is composed by elements that alludes to the history of this place and the people.
The UDLAP Art Collection has nine pieces from Nicolas Passarella's folder from 1989 titled “Una Mirada sobre México” [A look over Mexico] made in the period that the artist was a professor of the UDLAP.
