At the top of this page, a small scene shows a man treading grapes, while another man approaches with a full bag to add to the barrel. Treading grapes for wine production was an activity often associated with the month of September, the month represented on this page of the calendar. The diamond shape on the right contains a depiction of the zodiacal sign of Libra, represented here as a woman holding a pair of scales.

In this calendar, the the most important feast days are written in gold leaf. On September 8, for example, the feast of the nativity of the Virgin Mary is written in letters of shining gold.
