This pair of children’s shoes are completely made of twined and pleated paper. The shortage of fabric in Germany by the end of the First World War necessitated simple and cheap solutions like this. The shoes were a gift in 1920 to Wilhelmina von Hallwyl from her cousin’s daughter Sigrid Holzmann, née Voigts-Rhetz.
