Wu Buyun, hometown in Taishan County, Guangdong province, whose father was Philippines oversea Chinese. He studied in School of Fine Arts, University of Philippines after 1920s. Then he officially started his art and writing career after he back to Hong Kong since 1936. He was appointed as the art director of Hong Kong YingWa College in 1946, and began to travel and paint at many places as Huangshan, Hangzhou etc. He settled in Canada in 1975. In 1979, He held the "retrospective exhibition" in the National Art Museum of China and was invited by China Ministry of Culture (CMC) and China Central Academy of Fine Arts to serve as the visiting professor for CAFA. He published Wu Buyun Painting Album in 1983 and later held exhibitions in Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan many times.
