A young patient lies in bed with her pet budgerigar, supervised by a nurse. Originally the Wingfield Convalescent Home, opening in 1872, it officially became an orthopaedic hospital in 1921. It was rebuilt in 1930 and became the Wingfield-Morris Orthopaedic Hospital in 1933.
