The Doughboy Foundation

Seeking to restate for contemporary generations the gravity of the war, the dramatic tipped plane takes inspiration from President Wilson speech to congress: "civilization itself seems to be in the balance."The plane embodies this perilous balance, while it surfaces represent the duality of the valor and the burden of the war. The ascending plane, relating to the existing memorial walls in basic shape and relative thickness, it's cut to accentuate the axis of the promenade on the southside. The top side has a striking green ground cover. Certain times, the plane casts a Long shadow over the site, is the war itself casts over history.
