    [illegible] PLASTIC-BACKED CARPET DEMONSTRATED. [illegible] LAMP WILL NOT BURN IT.. 30-11-1955 A demonstration was held today at the Cafe Royal of "HARDURALOOP" - a new inexpensive type of carpet - with an attractive hard wearing pile and a plastic backing - and which is claimed to be fire, mildew, moth and beetle resistant.. The carpet is made by S. & J. Walsh Ltd., of Ardil and Wool, or Ardil and Viscose rayon - according to grade - with a rot-proof backing of P.V.C. (Poly Vinyl Chloride) plastic. It is claimed that it will give three times the wear of a normal cut pile carpet. KEYSTONE PHOTO SHOWS:- MARY MALCOLM of T. V. fame uses a blow-lamp to prove that the new carpet is actually fire-proof - during the demonstration today. The carpet is held by MR. J. WALSH one of the creators of the new material.
