NEW BANKNOTE PLANT.

Rapid progress is being made on the Bank of England's new printing works at Debden, Essex, which is to replace St.Luke's, Old Street, City. St Luke's at present employs 1200 people and many of these will transfer to Debden, but jobs will be offered to local people to replace those unable to make the change and the new works will become the largest labour employer of the Chigwell urban district. Apart from £5, £1 and 10s, banknotes, documents for internal use in the Bank of England will be printed at the Debden plant which is situated on the Debden L.C.C. Estate.
