A plate depicting a flaming heart in a fantasy landscape within a geometric frame with crossed ribbons

This beautiful plate, that comes from Faenza, is better identified with the term "tondino", that is a plate with a wide brim and deep bottom, as in this example. In fact, it's fully inserted in the series of amorous crockery, a theme clearly represented by the burning heart, that is the protagonist in the center of the artifact and a clear allusion to the passion of love. The little heart, surmounted by tongues of fire and struck by the thin rays of a star, is burning in a fantasy landscape, with stylized trees and grassy tufts placed symmetrically on a lively green and yellow lawn, revealed by a curtain motif. The wonderful brim of geometrically crossed white ribbons develops to highlight the intense blue, slightly graffitied with open circles arranged all around. This type of ornamentation had great success and a long life, in fact we know various specimens in this way that are dated between 1525 and 1530.
