The second half of the twentieth century saw increased levels of immigration to the
United Kingdom from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The ageing of this South
Asian population has been rapid over the next decade. Birmingham is a city and metropolitan borough in the metropolitan county of West Midlands in England. In no other country outside of the Indian subcontinent has seen South Asian cuisine gain such a foothold over the national psyche as in the United Kingdom.
