Kunisada Utagawa I was a disciple of the first Toyokuni. He named himself as the second
Toyokuni (actually，he was the third) for sometime. A sumo wrestler，Seimizan Hyoemon was promoted to komusubi，the fourth highest ranku in sumo in 1795. He kept his position in rhe top division of the sumo world for as long as 1789-1801 when there were a lot of strong wrestlers. This work， displaying the unyielding spirit of his，seems to have been painted in his memory after his death.
