This aala was built at a very low height from the floor in the living room of a residence. A plate containing thread, rice, turmeric and water was kept after the daughter-in-law of the family performed the kuan poojan, which is a ritual performed by a mother after giving birth. The source of drinking water and the water itself is worshipped as part of this ritual.
