Alien is a science-fiction horror media franchise centered on a film depicting Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley and her battles with extraterrestrial lifeforms. The original film was released in 1979, just a few years after the critically acclaimed ����_�Star Wars.����_�_ Kenner was the sole licensed toy manufacturer of Star Wars toys and they were eager to line-up the licenses for ����_�Alien����_�_ to recapture the magic of a branded line. Kenner released an 18-inch alien figure, but HR Giger����_��s design inspirations proved to scary and the toy was yanked from the shelves. In the early 1990, Kenner released another line of Alien toys. Many parents felt the new line was diluted enough to make the mature content more manageable for a young audience.
