Even though movie production had stopped in 1983 with the release of the "Return of the Jedi," the Star Wars story continued in animated series made for television, novels, and comic books. The animated "Ewoks" featured TV episodes of Wicket and his short companions beginning in 1985; the series called "Droids," also premiering in 1985, presented the adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO laboring for a variety of masters and owners in the narrative time between "Revenge of the Siths" and "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope." Kenner offered a new action figure series labeled Ewoks and Droids and featuring, for the first time, characters from the Star Wars Expanded Universe (EU), or all media in Star Wars narrative beyond the six original movies. The Ewoks and Droids lines of figures sold for about one year.
